Laney PMU Studio

FIT AND CONTRAINDICATIONS

Semi-permanent makeup is not for everyone. Read the contraindications before you book.

This page lists what the studio needs to know about before an appointment is booked.

HOW TO READ THIS PAGE

Every item below is raised in writing before a date is held, and then reviewed with the client at consultation, one at a time. The list is what the studio has to know about before it books an appointment.

It is a booking list and not a clinical assessment. No item on it is a diagnosis, and the studio assesses none of them.

THE LIST

What has to be raised before you book

Nothing here says that a service is safe, or unsafe, for any person, and no reason is given for any item on the list. Each one is a reason for a conversation before booking, and that conversation happens in writing, before a date is held.

The studio does not book these

A booking limit the studio sets for itself. No reason is published, and none is asked for.

  • Pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
  • Any stated age under 18.
  • An active skin condition at the site, including an open lesion, a rash, sunburn, or an active flare in or near the area.

Written clearance from your own doctor comes first

The studio does not assess any of these and does not decide them. The clearance is written by your own doctor and brought to the consultation.

  • Isotretinoin taken within the past 6 to 12 months.
  • Anticoagulant or blood-thinning medication.
  • A bleeding disorder.
  • Diabetes.
  • An autoimmune condition.
  • Chemotherapy, current or recent.
  • A cardiac condition.
  • Epilepsy.
  • A history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring.
  • Recent facial surgery in or near the area.

Timing, agreed before a date is held

These change when an appointment can happen. The dates are agreed in writing first.

  • Botox or filler in or near the area, recently had or already planned. The studio asks for both dates.
  • Laser, a chemical peel, or resurfacing on or near the area, recently had or already planned.
  • A cold sore history, for lip blush. Antiviral prophylaxis is arranged with your own doctor before a lip appointment is scheduled.
  • Existing semi-permanent makeup in the area, from this studio or any other. It is reviewed from photographs before an appointment is offered.

Stated before booking, without exception

Said in writing before a date is held, not in the chair.

  • A known or suspected allergy to pigments, dyes, or tattoo ink.
  • A known or suspected allergy or reaction to topical anaesthetics, including lidocaine.
  • Any medication, condition, treatment, or procedure that is not named on this page.

HOW THIS LIST IS USED

This list is reviewed at consultation and is not a substitute for advice from your own doctor.

The studio is not a medical practice and gives no medical advice. Where an item applies to you, the answer comes from your own doctor, in writing, and the studio works to it. Every detail is confirmed in writing before your appointment.

NEXT

The rest of the decision, in writing

The aftercare page sets out what to do in the first 48 hours and what to expect after that. The price list carries all three services, with deposits, and what every price includes.

The work is semi-permanent. A touch up follows at three months, with its cost confirmed at consultation, and after that the result wears two to three years. Where a shape is to be changed rather than refreshed, the existing pigment is removed first, which the studio does with laser removal, discussed at consultation.

Every appointment is booked online, on Vagaro.
