WHAT BROW WORK IS

Hair, drawn one stroke at a time, inside a measured shape.

The outline comes first. Start, arch, and tail are measured against your own bone structure and your own growth pattern, drawn on, and handed to you in a mirror. Only after you approve it is anything filled in.

How it is filled is the choice on the sheet below. In the hairstroke styles the pigment is laid stroke by stroke, following the direction your own hair grows, so it reads as hair rather than as a line. In the powdered finish it is shaded softly, the way a filled brow looks when it has been done well.

What changes is the morning. The pencil and the gel come out of the routine, and your brows are the same on the morning you wake up late as on the morning you do not. They are worn to work, to the gym, and to bed.

This is semi-permanent makeup. It is made to fade, slowly, over years rather than to sit unchanged for life, and that is the reason a touch up exists at all.

Every brow is customized to the client's facial structure, natural brow growth, skin type, personal style, and desired finish. A personalized consultation is included.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS

The appointment, in the order it happens.

Nothing on the day is a surprise. This is the sequence every brow appointment runs, from the paperwork at the door to the balance settled on the way out, and the point at which you can still change your mind is written into it.

1. CHECK IN The waiver, the service agreement and the marketing agreement are signed before the consultation begins. Nothing is drawn and no numbing cream goes on until they are.
2. BEFORE PHOTO The before photograph is taken first, before any numbing cream and before anything is drawn on the face. It is the natural brow, unmarked.
3. THE STYLE You choose from about four brow styles. Which one suits your hair, your skin and the finish you want is talked through here, not assumed.
4. THE MAPPING Laney draws the proposed shape on with a pencil, over your own brow, and adjusts the angle and the placement against your own features.
5. THE MIRROR The drawn shape is handed to you in a mirror. If it is not right it is wiped off and drawn again, and that repeats until you agree to it.
6. YOUR CALL You may still walk out at this point and nothing is tattooed. The deposit is not returned, and that is the only cost of stopping.
7. NUMBING Numbing cream over the brow area for 10 to 15 minutes.
8. THE WORK One hour to one and a half hours, depending on the style and the level of detail you have asked for.
9. THE MIRROR AGAIN The mirror comes out a second time at the end, so the finished shape is confirmed with you before you leave the chair.
10. PAYMENT The remaining balance is paid on site, immediately after the work is finished. The agreed price is the whole price.

The aftercare is explained in the room before you go and sent to you afterwards as a PDF. The short version: for the first 48 hours no sauna and no high intensity exercise, the supplied cream through that window because the needle opens the skin, and do not pick at the area while it settles. The colour settles to its true tone by about week six.

SEMI-PERMANENT

Three months to the touch up. Two to three years after it.

Brow work here is semi-permanent. It is made to fade rather than to sit unchanged for life, which is why the sequence below exists and why the shape is settled in a mirror before any pigment goes in.

LASER REMOVAL

Work that can be taken back off.

Laney performs laser removal, and it is the thing that makes a change of shape possible. Previous brow work, from this studio or from another one, can be lifted out of the skin.

It is not the answer to faded colour. Faded colour is a touch up, and a touch up is quick. Removal is for the client who wants a different shape, because a shape cannot be moved while the old pigment is still sitting under it.

It starts with a consultation, so the timeline is understood before anything begins. The timeline is the part that matters, and it is longer than most people expect. What removal costs, and whether one session or two is likely in your case, is set at that consultation.

1. DAY 01 The area looks completely clean. No colour, no visible tattoo. This is the stage that misleads people, because it is not the healed result.
2. 4 TO 6 WEEKS Healing runs four to six weeks, and up to eight weeks for some people. It varies by individual and it is not hurried.
3. 1 TO 2 SESSIONS One session often does not lift all the ink. Removal is planned as one or two sessions rather than promised as one, and the second is judged on how the first heals.
4. THEN A WAIT A further couple of months after healing before new work goes in, so the skin has recovered properly first. New brows are not drawn onto skin that is still settling.

Removal is quoted at consultation and is not on the published sheet above. It is booked as its own appointment, not as part of a brow service.

BEFORE AND AFTER

FINISHED WORK, WHOLE FACE

Every frame in this band is a client of the studio. One bar above reads HEALED, and it is the only one on this site that names a stage: the studio wrote that word on its own copy of that photograph. The others are barred BEFORE and AFTER and nothing more, because nobody has told us how long after. The three procedure images further up this page are illustrations of the stages of an appointment, and they are labelled as such wherever they appear.

BOOKING / AS PUBLISHED, ALL SERVICES

1. 01 Appointment only. Please book at least 3 days in advance.
2. 02 A $100 deposit is required to confirm the appointment and counts toward the balance. It is non-refundable. $200 for Signature Hyperrealism only.
3. 03 Cancelling within 24 hours, or arriving 20 minutes late, releases the appointment and the deposit.
4. 04 The balance is due at your appointment. The agreed price is the whole price.
